🔗 Share this article UN:Me: An Psychological Horror Merging Survival Horror with Among Us Mechanics The recent Day of the Devs digital showcase revealed several intriguing upcoming titles, but one in particular has captured attention: UN:Me. Developed by Historia and Shueisha Games, this single-player adventure appears to fuse together the dread-filled setting of a Silent Hill game with the suspicion-driven heart of Among Us. "This is a distinctive game where a young woman containing multiple human souls within her needs to flee from a maze of the mind," explains producer Yasukazu Kawai. Stepping Into a Shattered Consciousness In UN:Me, players assume the role of an unnamed female protagonist seeming to be of teenage years. Within her exist four distinct personas, all possessing unique fears and motivations. These souls can take over spontaneously, unleashing their deep-seated phobias upon her suddenly. Judging by revealed gameplay, much of the narrative unfolds within a eerie hospital, while additional clips depict the main character exploring a abandoned church. An Environment of Individual Horror "What makes you fearful of? What causes you uncomfortable?" poses game director Shun Sasaki. "Heights. Confined spaces. People in power. Things that appear minor to other people can activate something primal inside us. This game delves into that idea — anxieties that are specific to each person." The central gameplay loop revolves around managing whichever soul surfaces at any given moment. However, these identities will switch involuntarily during gameplay. During exploration, every persona's anxieties become exaggerated and attack the protagonist in succession. When the soul changes, so does the specific fear the player encounters. Unsettling Visuals and a Deadly Decision At first glance, UN:Me displays noticeable visual similarities with the Silent Hill franchise. The hospital is populated by nurses who all share the same face, with disturbingly broad smiles. Patients in the lobby have large blooms where their necks should be. Floral motifs are an ever-present element, juxtaposing organic elegance with supernatural dread. Yet, UN:Me introduces a unique mechanic. Players are tasked with deducing which of the four entities haunting the heroine is the "real" one. "All four souls asserts that the physical form belongs to them," explains a creator. "During the game, you must determine who is real." Once players have deduced a persona is fake, they must eliminate it. But, because each soul can deceive or hide the truth, it is incredibly simple to choose incorrectly. "Perhaps you've already destroyed the true [soul] with your own hands," the narration suggests. "The final entity standing could be a fraud. In any case, your decisions are final." UN:Me does not yet have a confirmed release date, but it is available to follow on platforms.
