Tehran is ready to restart nuclear talks with the United States provided that it is treated with "respect" and "respect", Iran's top diplomat has declared.

Tehran representatives said they felt they had achieved a "perfect agreement" to the uranium processing matter in earlier negotiations, when it was decided an Iran-based consortium with Washington's engagement could enrich uranium. Each party would have been able to assert triumph since local refinement would have continued and the US could be confident that Iran's enrichment initiative was exclusively peaceful.

It had not been decided in the talks that Washington's technical specialists could work inside Iran, but that was a reasonable assumption of the consortium proposal. He continued: "We effectively endured this engagement. Our nuclear technology, which they planned to obliterate, continues to exist. The facilities and machinery, if eliminated, will be reconstructed; what is essential is the resolve of the Iranian people and then the social solidarity that they targeted, but were unable to break.
