Arne Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot admitted that it's natural for concerns to be raised about his position after another heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in twelve games, representing the club's worst streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I have got significant support from management,” the coach commented.

“It's important to reverse this trend and get a victory obviously but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I accept my position. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “During our regular exchanges I sense the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Problems and Squad Response

The manager lamented recurring weaknesses from his squad in their European loss, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his view of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the words.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a spell like this with results so bad.”

He stated, “But we still have the emblem on our chest. And as long as that badge is removed, we’re always going to battle.”

“Our aim is to help the side return to the top, show everyone once more the values of this club and why it's known as the greatest side in the planet.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
