🔗 Share this article Adult Swim's Leading New Show of 2025 Secures a Major Renewal for Seasons 2 and 3. In October of last year, Adult Swim saw the return of its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. But, later that same month, the network unveiled a completely new animated series with a distinctly unique feel. Haha, You Clowns emerged as sweet and soothing, evoking a animated take of a contemplative talk show. At a time often characterized by cynicism, this show's sincerity struck a chord and helped it become a surprise hit. A Major Commitment In mid-December, the network confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two more seasons. This provides creator Joe Cappa a massive runway to develop the world of the Campbell family. The series focuses on three polite teenage brothers whose central trait is their profound affection for their widowed father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four key characters. "My deepest thanks go to the fans of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and helped it grow," said Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for seasons to come." Network Praise In the same announcement commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and strangely uncanny." He shouted out the fans who embraced the show and advocated for its uniquely offbeat style. "All of you got behind this new show, praised it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'" A Comforting Counterpoint When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a comforting antidote" to other adult animated fare. There’s something unexpectedly cozy about watching this charming family navigate their simple existence. Previously, creator Joe Cappa shared his goal to evolve comedy past its prevailing layer of irony. He traced this trend to a broader media landscape. “It feels like there's a default mode of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” said Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we need to laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.” The Path Forward Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa could potentially help usher in that change he described. At a minimum, the renewal promises audiences additional episodes to experience the gentle humor of the endearing Campbell clan. The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. The complete first season is ready to watch on HBO Max.
